Privacy policy
Effective October 25, 2026
Who is responsible
This policy explains how personal information is handled through the GemCollective website. Contact hello@gemcollective.shop about your information or this policy. Each independent seller also handles the information needed to fulfill their orders and respond to their customers.
Information we receive
When you create an account, contact us, request a commission, or place an order, we receive the information needed for that activity. This can include your name, email address, account details, delivery and billing address, purchased items, payment status, and correspondence. Commission requests can include your preferred cutter, budget, design preferences, and timeline. Please avoid sending sensitive information unrelated to your request.
Stripe handles payment card information. GemCollective does not store your full card number or card security code. We receive payment references and information needed to identify and manage the transaction.
Our hosting and security services may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, request times, and error logs when you visit the site.
How information is used
We use this information to maintain accounts, respond to inquiries, arrange commissions, process and fulfill orders, provide receipts and shipping updates, handle refunds, prevent misuse, resolve problems, and meet recordkeeping obligations.
Who receives information
The cutter fulfilling your order receives the contact, order, and delivery information needed to complete it. A cutter handling your commission inquiry may receive the details of that request. Carriers receive the information necessary to deliver a parcel.
We use service providers for payments, hosting, databases, and email. Our current services include Stripe, Vercel, DigitalOcean, Neon, Resend, and Zoho Mail. They process information as needed to provide those services. Stripe and other providers may also process information for their own security and legal obligations under their privacy policies.
We may disclose information when legally required or reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, protect accounts, or establish or defend legal claims.
Browser storage
The site uses browser local storage to remember sign-in information and your cart. You can remove this information in your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or clear your saved cart. Payment and hosting providers may use cookies or similar technology for checkout, security, and fraud prevention. Clearing browser storage does not delete records already held by GemCollective or its service providers.
Retention and security
We retain information for the purposes described above, including order support, accounting, dispute handling, and legal obligations. The appropriate period depends on the record and those obligations.
We use access controls and other safeguards to protect information. No website or method of transmission can guarantee complete security.
Your requests
Contact hello@gemcollective.shop to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. We may need to verify your identity, and we may need to retain some records to fulfill an order, resolve a dispute, or meet legal obligations. We will explain any applicable limitation when responding.
Children and international visitors
GemCollective is intended for adults buying or discussing gemstones. It is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can investigate and address it.
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Shipping availability is described in our Shipping & Returns Policy.
Updates
We will update the effective date when this policy changes and provide additional notice where required. Contact hello@gemcollective.shop with questions.
